  38.      The textfield.gadget is a BOOPSI gadget for text entry,
  39.      supporting multiple lines, borders, two cursor types,
  40.      an optional notepad look, font setting, style setting,
  41.      and much more.
  42.  
  43.      The 2.0 version fixes some bugs and offers some new
  44.      features: faster scrolling, true read-only mode, modified
  45.      flag, accept/reject sets of characters, read line
  46.      lengths, highlight text programmatically, IntuiText label
  47.      support, and copy/copyall/cut/paste/erase/undo program-
  48.      matically.

  50.      A programmer who is familiar with BOOPSI can use this
  51.      gadget by simply creating an instance, attach it to a
  52.      window, then when needed, read the text from the gadget
  53.      when necessary.  All the text entry is handled by the
  54.      gadget itself.  When finished with the gadget it can
  55.      simply be removed from the window and deleted.

  57. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  58.  
  59.      The gadget requires OS 2.04 and up.  From the user's
  60.      standpoint, for OS 2.04 and 2.1 the gadget must
  61.      be placed in a draw where application that uses it
  62.      exists, and for OS 3.0 and up the gadget can be
  63.      installed in SYS:Classes/Gadgets.

  80.      I do not require a fee to be paid by end users of the
  81.      gadget, but the programs that use the gadget may
  82.      require paying a fee of some sort, which should be
  83.      directed to the author of that software, not me.

  85.      The cost for using this gadget in a program is that I
  86.      get a copy of the software package it is used in, at no
  87.      cost to me.  The purpose of this requirement is that
  88.      I will be able to evaluate future needs of the gadget.
  89.      Also, there should be mention of the gadget and author
  90.      in the programs and documentation of the programs that
  91.      use the gadget.  In programs you can drop a short line
  92.      in the About requester: textfield.gadget by Mark Thomas.

  95. DISTRIBUTABILITY

  97.      The archive may be distributed only in its entirety to
  98.      anywhere, such as ftp sites, a BBS, or a disk collection
  99.      such as Fish disks.

  101.      The textfield.gadget file itself, and portions of the
  102.      documentation pertaining to editor keyboard sequences
  103.      can be distributed with software packages that use the
  104.      gadget.

  109.      is a fully working example program that uses the gadget
  110.      in the archive.  There are normal and MUI examples.
